For the first time since coronavirus hit, Cambodia welcomes back tourists.
While the country has put stringent requirements in place, such as hotel quarantine, it is possible to revisit Cambodia as a tourist.
Getting a Tourist Visa Online
While most Cambodian visas are available at embassies or consulates only, tourist visas can now be obtained online. Currently suspended is the visa on arrival.
Visitors need to arrive in Cambodia by plane because the land borders with Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam are closed for the time being. Aside from tourist visas, the country accepts E-class “ordinary” visas, A-class diplomatic visas, B-class, C-class, and K-class visas, EB, EG, ER, and ES extensions of stay (EOS).
Updated Cambodia Tourist Visa Information
T-visas are issued within three days and cost $30 plus $6 for processing them. The 30-day visa can be used for 90 days. In other words, tourists must arrive in Cambodia within 90 days of issuance and are valid for 30 days after entering the country.
Fully vaccinated travelers need to quarantine for seven days. Those who have received only one dose of a vaccine or people not inoculated need to undergo a 14-day quarantine. A $2,000 cash deposit is mandatory.
Requirements for Flying to Cambodia
Also required is a negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of arriving in Cambodia. The result must include the words “medical certificate” and be signed and stamped by a clinic or doctor. Besides, red stamps carry more weight than other colors. Also, “negative” is a better word than “not detected.” Test results must be issued in either English or Khmer.
Quarantine Requirements in Cambodia
Since October 2021, most people inoculated against Covid-19 need to spend seven days in hotel quarantine. They are obliged to get tested for coronavirus with a PCR test maximum of 72 hours before arriving in Cambodia. Also necessary is the vaccine certificate, Covid-19 health insurance, and proof of a pre-booked AQS-hotel (alternative state quarantine hotel) or $1,000 in cash for the hotel deposit.
People need to undergo rapid testing on arrival and do a PCR test at the end of the seven day-quarantine.
